meeting minutes March 10, 2008
Community Outreach Committee
March 10, 2008
Kara B, Carole B, Ginny BC, David C, Rebecca C, Josey S
Rally Feedback
We discussed how March 9th’s Outreach Rally went. The overall feeling was that it was a success. We need to keep in mind that those in attendance were more likely to be receptive to the campaign. There may still be congregants who are not as open to our ideas, and we need to be prepared.
Rally Comments/Concerns
We looked over the ideas and concerns that were solicited from the people in attendance at the rally. Overall, there were more ideas than concerns, but the concerns were valuable for us to look into. If applicable, ideas will be forwarded to the appropriate committee.
Rally Momentum
We discussed keeping the campaign foremost on people’s minds. Ginny will do a write up of the Rally for the upcoming newsletter.
New email address
We have a yahoo email address for our committee. It is: epworthoutreach@yahoo.com.
Nametags
The Hospitality Committee meets Sunday March 16. Kara will ask when they will be ready to take over the nametag program.
Super Service Saturday
We are hoping to work together as a committee for S3. Josey and Rebecca will email us with availability. Hopefully, we’ll be able to sign up on Sunday.
Praise Band Concert
Jay R has asked for help running concessions for the Praise Band Concert to be held Saturday April 19. Anyone who is available is welcome to help.
New Sign
The grant application deadline is two months away. It is due May 1. We are hoping to have a response by June, so we can have the sign in place by August for the beginning of the campaign. Kara brought a letter of intent for us to look over. Kara brought plans for a video sign instead of an LED sign. The differences were discussed. We agreed to go with the LED sign for now, and look at the video sign possibly in the future. Kara and Josey will look into brickwork for the sign to sit on. Rebecca has forwarded information regarding honorary bricks, and that will be taken into consideration. The permits and designs must be submitted this month to the county in order to secure them in time for submission in May for the grant. Kara will download the forms and we will complete them at our next meeting.
Mailings
Kara sent out 1000 Easter direct impact mailings. They went to ZIP code 60124 and targeted families under 12. The total cost was $555. Rebecca suggested in the future we cross check the impact mailing addresses against the church’s addresses for duplicates.
Our next meeting is March 24 at 7:00pm.
